How to clean and maintain the tie

It is but normal to get your tie off as soon as you come back home after a hard day’s work from office, it is important to remove your tie in a proper manner. Removing the tie properly can actually make a whole lot of difference in the way your tie is maintained for its longevity. Never pull the thin side of the tie through the knot as that will ruin the shape of the tie. When you are not using the tie, keep it open and not in knots as that will create creases on the tie that will be permanent in nature and make the tie look limp and de-shaped.

Storage of ties

Ties can easily get disfigured since they are very delicate. Always hang your ties when they are not in use as it will reduce the wrinkles and creases on the tie. Invest in a good tie rack and store them in an organized manner as that will only help you in increasing the longevity of the ties. If you have knit ties in your collection, you should store them in rolled form as that will keep the knits in shape and tightly woven.

Cleaning of ties

Clean your ties only when they are dirty and not after every use. Always wash your ties by hand or go for the dry cleaning option. Air drying the ties is also the safest to keep them fit and undamaged. If you have a stain on the tie, it can be difficult to clean it. As soon as you get a stain on the tie, you should make it a point to clean it. Use talcum powder to remove the stain if it is oily. Else you can also use club soda to clean the stain and then let it sit for a few hours. Brush off with a soft cloth later.
