The difference between silk tie and polyester tie

Knowing the fabric of the tie is an important factor that can drive the considerations for buying a tie for you. Ties are made with different fabrics and depending on your preference and budget, you can make your choice from the variety of fabrics. Of all the available fabrics of tie, two best choices are silk and polyester. While silk ties are classic and stylish, polyesters can be cheaper option.

Silk tie

The silk ties are staple and at the same time a luxurious choice. Silk is exclusively used for ties by several tie designers as it makes the mark for a man with classic taste. Silk ties also can vary in fabric and texture and depending on the fabric, the ties can range from smooth, crunchy or even stiff. Silk ties can be worn for corporate conferences, meetings and client interaction projects. They can be worn throughout the year. The disadvantage of silk ties is that it gets wrinkled very easily and it is also very expensive. And if you want to clean the tie, you have to give it to the dry cleaners for the job.

Polyester tie

Polyester is a synthetic material that is created from petroleum byproducts. It can also be used for making satin ties. It is cheaper and looks very similar to silk ties and hence is a popular choice for many men. The best thing about polyester is that it is waterproof and also stain resistant. However it can become rough in texture if it is exposed to strong heat or the sun and can also hold on to the smell of the perfume for long time. The disadvantage of polyester ties include the fact that they cannot be ironed as they cannot stand strong heat and they are also very stiff which makes it difficult to tie the knot.
